Annual Aroma Festival!

You sketch the beautiful
city, I sketch you ...
As KT jets across the world, full on the sweet stuff from Paris, we Sydney siders woke up to the most spectacular winter's morning. Life is hard, really, to have a winter that feels like a warm spring day and the glittering sparkles around the harbour foreshore. And to top it off, I'm going to the Aroma Festival. To eat lovely desserts, drink good coffee, and have wonderful company while I'm at it. Seriously good stuff.
It a long way to churros...
Just after 10, The Rocks area is already bustling with activity and excitement, although the festival officially started at 10. It seems that, many have realised the best way to see the Aroma is to get in early, then find a cafe/restaurant (early) to chill and watch the crowd go by. Although, the DDDs have opted to have a leisurely breakfast at La Renaissance first, followed by strolling and taking in the atmosphere.
Same coffee bean, different roaster,
which one did you prefer?

There were about a dozen coffee stalls (very small compared to how it used to be), but now with many tea, sweets and gourmet takeaway food stalls. The beautiful smell of burgers (La Renaissance did a brioche angus + truffle butter burger right next to Double Roasters.... Oh the temptation!!) and sumptuous sausages (on pretzel bread, no less) and of course the potent coffee aromas... I was in heaven. And this is the reason that year after year I come back to this event.

Icing on the cake - Baroque. There was a long wait, but planning ahead meant we got a table at 3 for our afternoon coffee (Little Marionette coffee), gorgeous French desserts, and best macarons in Sydney  (salted caramel, anyone?).

It was a pity though the Overseas Passenger Terminal was closed off - renovation? Construction? There used to be stalls along the foreshore and behind the OPT but not this year. Hope they come back next year.

Thank you Sydney, welcome back KT, and welcome back to DDT Terry! Long time no see!
